Due to the heat that is forecasted for Saturday, we’ve made the choice to do a slight course adjustment. Fire Tower Trail Races have always favored going longer than the distance, and this years course was even longer still. Given the weather conditions we felt that “free bonus miles” are probably a bad idea, so we’re going to eliminate the new horse trail loop that we were adding right at the start for this year. That means that just like previous years you will make the quick left hand turn shortly after leaving start.
From a distance perspective it does mean that the 50K and 100K will be much closer to the actual distance than long courses, and you might come in just ever-so-slightly under, but we felt that this was better than the alternative. The 35K will be closer to a 20 mile with this change.
